About The Winslow

Manhattan didn't have a proper gin bar, so The Winslow was built to be one.

The idea started with a simple observation: gin's history in London runs deep, but almost nowhere in the city treated the spirit like it deserved center stage. The Winslow was created to be a British-style bar and eatery first, and a gin bar second only in the sense that gin is woven through everything else we do. We're not a themed bar. We're a working public house with a gin program serious enough to back it up.

Located at 243 E 14th St, between 2nd and 3rd Avenues on the border of the East Village and Gramercy, The Winslow sits a three-minute walk from Union Square and steps from the L train's 3rd Avenue stop. It's the kind of location that pulls in a mix of neighborhood regulars, after-work groups from the Park Avenue South office corridor, and gin drinkers who came specifically for the selection.

More than 40 gins, and a presentation to match

The gin list runs from classic London Dry styles to small-batch and New World distilleries, more than 40 in total. What sets the pours apart isn't just the range, it's the presentation: The Winslow draws on the Spanish tradition of serving gin and tonics in large copa glasses, layered with botanicals, dried fruit and spices chosen to complement the specific gin in the glass. A gin and tonic here isn't an afterthought on a cocktail menu. It's built the way the drink is meant to be served.

For guests who want to go deeper, our Gin Club and gin tastings walk newcomers and connoisseurs alike through the category, one bottle at a time.

Food that holds its own

The kitchen, led by Executive Chef Nathan Pauley, runs a menu of elevated pub fare rather than bar-snack filler: fish and chips, Scotch eggs, duck wings, and a rotating seasonal menu that changes with the ingredients available. Weekday hours run through lunch and dinner service, with weekend brunch service available before the kitchen shifts into its regular evening menu. Food here is meant to stand next to the drinks program, not sit underneath it.

A home for the match

Rugby runs deep at The Winslow, particularly the Six Nations, and we've built the bar around it: multiple HD screens, an early opening on major match days, and no gimmick specials attached to game viewing. It's the same approach for football, NFL, and other major sporting fixtures throughout the year. If you're here for the game, the bar is built for that, not just tolerating it.

Built for groups, not just tables for two

Whether it's a birthday, a bridal or baby shower, a corporate happy hour, or a full-scale holiday party, The Winslow has hosted them. Semi-private and private spaces accommodate groups from small gatherings up through 50-plus, and our team handles the logistics so hosts can focus on their guests instead of managing a room.

Recognized beyond the neighborhood

The Winslow's gin program has been featured in Punch Magazine and Time Out New York, coverage that reflects a bar built for people who take the category seriously, not just a marketing claim.

Not a chain, and not going to be one

The Winslow is independently run, and that shows up in how the place feels the moment you walk in. Human interaction matters here in a way that's harder to fake at a chain, and the vibe of the room is something regulars notice returning for.
