What are treatments? This will depend on the specific area being treated. It is common to apply a numbing agent to the area around 20 minutes prior the procedure. The procedure may cause minimal discomfort and pain. A local anesthesia, along with the numbing cream, will be used for deeper treatments. We recommend that you visit the office within 24 hours to complete treatment. The treatment involves inserting an insulated needle in the fat pad or wrinkle to treat acne. Radio frequency is used to trigger the right number of pulses for each area.
What does it mean to recover? The first week may bring about some redness, swelling, and even bruising. Deeper treatments may cause numbness that lasts up to 4 weeks. When can I expect to see results? The treated area may look worse in the initial recovery period. This is normal. Over the following weeks or months, you will see a dramatic improvement in your skin. New collagen forms, and the skin tightens. This allows you to remold your structure to achieve the desired look. Although it is possible for maximum results with one treatment, not all procedures are the same. You may need to do more than one treatment in order to achieve the best results.

We get questions from potential patients who come to our Lenexa office for an aesthetic treatments because they want to look younger. We asked Dr. Margolin about his advice to patients who might have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin said, “I tell potential patients the truth: I am an M.D., not a magician. I understand that it’s natural for people to want to look their best. Everyone wants to look their best, so they feel their best. Aesthetic treatments like BOTOX can temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles but these treatments can’t make them look like they did in college or like their favorite supermodel.”
This treatment reduces the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles, but it isn’t as dramatic as plastic surgery. But if a patient has an eyebrow crease or forehead lines, BOTOX can help. This treatment softens lines and prevents them from creasing your skin. But BOTOX can’t reduce lines and wrinkles caused by the loss of facial fullness. To remedy those issues, we use dermal fillers like JUVEDERM.
Although it might not seem that way, we lose fat on the face, especially around the cheek area, as people age. Our faces lose fat, our skin sags, and the loss of facial volume forms laugh lines and other wrinkles.
