What are treatments? The area targeted will determine the treatment. It is common to apply a numbing agent to the area around 20 minutes prior the procedure. It is possible to experience some discomfort, but not pain, during the procedure. A local anesthesia, along with the numbing cream, will be used for deeper treatments. For treatment of acne, we recommend that you return within 24 to 48 hour to get further treatment. The treatment involves inserting an insulated needle in the fat pad or wrinkle to treat acne. Radio frequency is used to trigger the right number of pulses for each area.
What is the recovery process like? You might experience redness, swelling, or bruising the first week. You may feel numbness for as long as four weeks after deeper treatments. When can I expect to see the results? The treatment area may appear more severe than normal during the recovery period. Over the following weeks or months, you will see a dramatic improvement in your skin. New collagen forms, and the skin tightens. This allows you to remold your structure to achieve the desired look. While it is possible achieve the maximum results with only one treatment, there are not always simple procedures. The best result may require more than one treatment.

We get questions from potential patients who come to our Lenexa office for an aesthetic treatments because they want to look younger. We asked Dr. Margolin about his advice to patients who might have unrealistic expectations about aesthetic treatments. Dr. Margolin said, “I tell potential patients the truth: I am an M.D., not a magician. I understand that it’s natural for people to want to look their best. Everyone wants to look their best, so they feel their best. Aesthetic treatments like BOTOX can temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles but these treatments can’t make them look like they did in college or like their favorite supermodel.”
In a Day Spa, treatments are typically provided by people certified in areas like therapeutic massage and cosmetology. A Med Spa is a hybrid between a Medical Aesthetic Clinic and a Day Spa that operates under the supervision of a highly trained and specialized Physician.
