Limited editions, special editions and variants of these terms fall under the category manufactured collectables. These are used as marketing incentives for different types of products. They were originally meant to be used on products that relate to the arts such as books or printed music. But now they can also be used for cars, wine and other collectables. Extra material is usually included in special editions. A limited edition may have a lower production number, but the quantity could be excessive.

To increase sales, retailers and manufacturers have used collectables in many ways. One example is licensed collectables that are based on intellectual property, such as images, logos, characters, and music from literature, movies, radio, television and video games. Advertising, brandname and collectibles are just a few examples of licensing. The use of collectables for retail includes prizes (items with nominal value included in or packaged with the price of a product at no additional charge) and premiums. These items can be "purchased", which include coupon codes, boxtops, proofs of purchase, and a small fee to cover shipping. In the form of souvenirs, collectables also play an important part in tourism. Memorabilia is another important area of collecting. It includes memorabilia that can be related to people, organizations, events or media. This includes T-shirts and posters as well as other collectables that are marketed to fans. However, it also includes memorabilia from historical, media or entertainment events. These items were not meant to go to waste but were kept by fans and then accumulated by collectors. With the phenomenal rise in use of Non Fungible Tokens, which can be used to sell digital collectibles, collectibles have become a major market worldwide. The market size for collectibles in 2020 was $372 billion according to the Collectibles Marketing Report. The market offers huge potential with a Total Addressable Marketplace (TAM) of approximately $440 billion in 2020. As NFT becomes a more widespread and advanced market, digital collectibles will offer actors and musicians a new revenue stream.

Travel Eureka Springs

Eureka Springs is a city in Carroll County, Arkansas, United States, and one of two county seats for the county.[2] It is located in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas, near the border with Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 2,166.[3]

The entire city is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Eureka Springs Historic District. Eureka Springs has been selected as one of America's Distinctive Destinations by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Eureka Springs was originally called "The Magic City", "Little Switzerland of the Ozarks", and later the "Stairstep Town" because of its mountainous terrain and the winding, up-and-down paths of its streets and walkways.

It is a tourist destination for its unique character as a Victorian resort, which first attracted visitors to use its then believed healing springs. The city has steep winding streets filled with Victorian-style cottages and manors. The historic commercial downtown of the city has an extensive streetscape of well-preserved Victorian buildings. The buildings are primarily constructed of local stone, built along limestone streets that curve around the hills, and rise and fall with the topography in a five-mile long loop. Some buildings have street-level entrances on more than one floor and other such oddities: the Basin Park Hotel has its front entrances on the floor below first, and a ground-level emergency exit in the back of the building on the fifth floor. The streets wind around the town, with few intersecting at right angles. There are no traffic lights.

Collectables are investments.

Collectables can be items in limited supply that are wanted for various reasons, including an increase in value. Collectors can be considered as a hedge against inflation in a financial perspective. As they become rarer due to damage, loss, or destruction, their value may increase over time. A drawback of investing in collectables, particularly for rare items, is the possibility of not having enough liquidity. Fraud is also a possibility.

From the 1960s to the early 1990s, the major years of production for contemporary collectables were the 1960s and 1970s. Many people purchase collectables today to use and enjoy, but many others buy them as investments. Many of these pieces were the subject of speculation markets. Duplicates are common as many people buy duplicates for investment. Even though many collectibles were labeled "limited editions", there was a large number of actual items. There is little demand for many of the items made during this period and their market value is often very low.

Digital collecting can be done on the blockchain. It was made popular by the NFT craze that took place at the end 2020. Digital items (NFTs), often associated with images and artworks, are available for collectors to buy, trade, and exchange. Although most of these items are purchased with cryptocurrency, it is possible to buy NFTs on many other marketplaces using standard credit cards. Like physical collecting, items can be valued for different reasons. But they aren't always monetarily important, rare, uncommon, or visually appealing. Digital collectibles were first discovered with the Curio Cards and the Rare Pepe. Digital art can also be collected digitally.

It is not only human that the urge to collect strange and beautiful objects is strong, but also other animals (bowerbirds, pack rats).

The Renaissance Cabinet of Curiosities, was both an antecedent of modern museum collecting and modern museums.

As incentives, early manufactured collectables included cigarette cards in cigarettes packs. Popular items found a secondary market, and were often the subject of "collectible crazes". Many collectables were eventually made available for sale separately and not as marketing tools.

Manufacturers often make a series of collectables to encourage collectors. Each item is differentiated in some way. One example is a set of Beanie Babies or sports cards featuring players. Enthusiasts often attempt to collect all the variations.

Collector editions are another way to support collectables. Collector editions are usually limited in number and can contain valuable additional content. This is most common in videogames.

Sometimes, early versions of a product that were manufactured in small quantities prior to its popularity as a collectible developed can command high premiums on secondary markets. These premiums can be commanded by dolls and other toys that were made in the adult collector's youth. Collectors rarely make a remarkable investment, unless they are extremely rare or one-of-a kind.
